Offaly Local Authorities (Offaly County Council, Tullamore, Birr and Edenderry Town Councils) now invites visual artists, musicians, writers, filmmakers, dance artists, drama practitioners, etc to be selected onto a panel for potential public arts commissions.

Grove Street TV a Public Art Project

Grove Street. TV is the title of a public art project by artist Michael Fortune which was commissioned by Offaly County Council as part of their Per Cent for Art Programme. The Project offered residents of Grove Street, both young and old, an opportunity to collectively explore their creativity by engaging with the artist who in turn responded to their ideas, interests and aspirations.

The Arts Office of Offaly County Council is currently compiling a database of designers in Offaly for the purposes of informing designers in regard to current and future opportunities, seminars and exhibitions that may further the development of their design.

Local Authority Arts Programme has Positive Impact

For everyones attention here is an interesting article with regard to Local Authories positive impact on arts nationally. The article was published by the Council Review Magazine in 2009 and goes along way to recognising that 'the arts are ultimately about people, their interaction, creative and quality of life which makes way for enriched and positive society'.

Birr Gateway Public Art Project Invitation for Submission

Offaly County Council invites submissions from artists for an iconic 'gateway' sculpture for the town of Birr, in Co. Offaly. The commissioners would like artists to create an innovative response to Birr's unique heritage whilst reflecting its vibrant culture. This project arose out of Birr's Public Realm Project and the value of the commission is €45,000. This is a two stage open submission competition, and the closing date is Friday 3pm March 2nd. Puttaghaun Public Art Projects Call for submissions

Call for submissions for two Public Art Projects a Youth Theatre Project and a Dance Project. The commissions are to take place in Puttaghaun Tullamore and all work with children aged between 7 - 17years old. Tullamore Community Arts Centre has moved on to the next stage with the signing of the design contracts between the Board of the Arts Centre and A2 Architects, which took place on Thursday 26th January.
