Cultural Celebration of the year 1916 in Edenderry

Info: Edenderry Comhaltas will celebrate 1916 with music of the period.  A selection of poetry from 1916 relating to both the Rising and other contemporary events. Poetry recited by Dr.Philip Brady and  members of Transition Year in St.Mary’s Secondary School, with an open mike on the night.

Birr Stage Guild presents SOWING THE WIND

Location: Birr Theatre and Arts Centre.
Info: Playing their part in the 1916 commemoration programme with a theatrical presentation called 'Sowing the Wind'. The production sets out to give a flavour of life in Birr and in the country generally in the early years of the 20th century and culminates in the actual events of the Rising.

Flag Raising Ceremony in Birr

Location: Emmet Square, Birr
Info: FLAG RAISING CEREMONY IN BIRR THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday 24th April at 12 noon Biorra le Gaeilge will mark exactly 100 years since Pádraig Pearse read out the Proclamation and the two Irish flags of the Republic were raised upon the GPO, outside the post office in Emmet Square in Birr.
