Birr Fire Station
Birr Fire Station is a new 2 bay purpose built Fire Station. The Station is run by a Station Officer with assistance from a Sub Station Officer and Driver Mechanic.
At present the Birr Station is equipped with
2 No. Class B Fire Appliances
1 No. 4WD Vehicle
1 No. Water Tanker
Birr Alpha 1 Appliance
Birr Alpha 2 Appliance
Birr 4WD Jeep
Birr Fire Brigade attended 112 calls in 2011.
These calls consisted of Chimneys fires, house fires, Road Traffic Collisions, Flooding, and special services e.g. Rescues etc.
Weekly training drill takes place on Tuesday nights from 18:30 to 20:30. The fire fighters carry out training on all aspects of the service, including fire fighting, Breathing Apparatus, and Road Traffic Collision procedures. In addition to this weekly training all Firefighters are required to carry out regular refresher courses in all aspects of training including Fire Behaviour Training, Breathing Apparatus Training and First Aid Training.
