Offaly County Council hereby invites property owners to consider leasing their properties to the council under the Social Housing Leasing Initiative. The Council is seeking to lease good quality new and second-hand properties in all areas where there is a housing need.
General principles underlying this initiative: -
- 10-20 year lease periods for unfurnished dwellings.
- Owner retains structural responsibility.
- Local Authority responsible for internal maintenance.
- A shorter- term lease option is available with owners retaining landlord responsibilities and property maintenance responsibilities.
- Rent discount from market will apply.
- Local Authority will pay the lease amount monthly in advance and collect rent from the tenant on a weekly basis.
- Dwellings must have a Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate and must meet current Building Regulations.
- Property owners must have a Tax Clearance Certificate.
- At end of lease, properties are returned to landlord in same general condition, save for fair wear and tear.
