This year, CSI World has arrived in Offaly armed with crime scenes and finger printing equipment. There are a series of three workshops with students from St. Brendan’s Community School and Coláiste Naomh Cormac taking part. This workshop demostrates elements of the senior cycle biology course for the Leaving certificate.
The aim of Science Week is to promote the relevance of science, engineering and technology in our everyday lives and to demonstrate the importance of these disciplines to the future development of Irish society and to the economy.

Each workshop is 90 minutes long and demostrates how forensics is used in science and society. The students will learn about blood spatter interpretation, trace evidence and deceased fingerprinting methods. "Processing a crime scene" is part of the practical element of the workshop, with a chance for students to get a chance to play the role of Grissom, Mac Taylor or Detective Bonasera.
