Tullamore Library Textile Art Project
A colourful and vibrant community project is currently underway at Tullamore Library under the expert guidance of textile designer Kate O’Brien. This involves local volunteers knitting squares that will be sewn together to form a full size garment. Kate is usually to be seen at the library between 10am and 12pm each Friday busily working away on this eye-catching venture.
Volunteers are encouraged to submit squares for inclusion by either knitting them on site from materials available at the library kindly donated by Ann Larkin Dress Fabrics and Crafts, Mucklagh, or by using their own materials at home. The squares are required in DK yarn, in any stitch, using the colours of the Irish countryside. They should measure 11cm by 12cm (25 stitches by 30 rows, size 4mm needles). Why not drop in to the library between 10am and 12pm on a Friday to discuss the project with Kathryn and to see the project as it progresses? It is planned to officially launch the completed work when the new Tullamore library opens in 2012, so don’t miss your chance to contribute to this novel and artistic venture.
