Eileen who is a native of Birr, but currently living in South Dublin since the late 1970’s, visited Edenderry Library to facilitate a creative writing work shop entitled ‘The Jane Austen Sewing Kit’ . This workshop began as an installation in Jerros Shop Window in Birr, during Birr Vintage Week and Arts Festival, 2007. It travelled to Co. Clare, Leixlip and Tallaght Libraries. It contains articles, poetry and prose which are about creative writing and the creative life.
Eileen has had her poetry and fiction published and has won awards for both. In 2006, she was awarded a solo exhibition in Aras an Chontae and also The Tyrone Guthrie Award from Offaly County Council. In 2004 and 2005 she was short listed for the Sunday Tribune Hennessy award. Her debut poetry collection ‘Drinking the Colour Blue’ was published by New Island in 2008. She is the poetry category winner in The Green Book Festival, 2010, Los Angeles.
