Summer Reading Challenge |
Book in a Bag |
Offaly Libraries are running 2 events in branch libraries this summer a “Summer Reading challenge” and a “Book in a Bag” promotion. The Summer reading challenge involves children signing up to participate either on a chart or a reading tree in the branch library. Every participant will receive a log book which will be stamped for each book they borrow and return. Children who successfully complete the reading challenge by reading 8 books during the summer will be awarded a certificate in October during the Children’s Book Festival.
Children will be allowed borrow an extra book during the summer months, but there is one catch – they won’t know what they are borrowing! The extra “book in a bag” will be sealed in a bag so borrowers won’t know what kind of book they are taking home. This encourages children to read books they might not normally choose.
