Rosemarie Langtry - Edenderry Library
Rosemarie Langtry is a contemporary visual artist living and working from her studio in Ballinahown, Athlone, Co Westmeath .She recently graduated in Fine Art from GMIT and has a certificate in Community Art Development from NUI Maynooth.
Rosemarie has exhibited nationally and internationally and numerous solo shows. Langtry’s work is included in the State Art Collection.
Rosemarie was awarded a scholarship to the 10thInternational encaustic conference in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Her design was selected to be part of the Jack and Jill Children’s foundation arts initiative 2016 Hares on the March. Rosemarie works within the community, facilitating art classes for children, women's groups and active retirement groups.
This series of original paintings is inspired by the landscape of County Westmeath and surrounding areas. I work with encaustic which is the process of painting with hot pigmented wax an ancient medium used thousands of years ago in Egypt. The technique is engaging, versatile yet challenging.
