The EBSCOhost interface is compatible with the following browsers (this information is accessible on the EBSCO support site http://support.ebscohost.com):

· Support for the Google Chrome browser is coming later in 2011
Downloading books
You must install the new Download Manager software in order to download and tranfer eAudiobooks. Select a title and the Download option. You will be prompted to install the new Download manager.
Once you have registered with EBSCOhost you can access the service directly here.

eBooks
Members of Offaly Libraries are now able to download eBooks for free. This service is available 24 hours a day through the library website. In order to access these eServices, library users need their library card number and PIN. To find out your PIN just contact your local library. Library users can now download books onto eReaders in ePub and PDF format. There is something for everyone with fiction and non-fiction books along with books for teenagers and children.
Offaly Libraries already provide an eAudiobook service where audio versions of books can be downloaded free of charge onto devices such as mobile phones, MP3 players and iPods.
If you think you don't have time in your busy schedule to read a book, why not listen to one instead? Take a book with you on your iPod for your jog or walk, on the commute to and from work, or leave it on in the background in the kitchen.
There are a number of free eBooks sites available where you can download books for free. If you are interested in trying eBooks, some of this sites might be useful to you.

This is a very famous website that functions with an agenda of digitalizing books that are out of copyright. Usually, books run out of copyright after 50 years of publication. Most of the classics can be obtained from this site for free.
Fictionwise offer both free and paid for ebooks. Select the Free Books option when entering the site. You will need to create a Login Username and Password to download free ebooks.
Books are packaged so that users can read them on a java enabled phone. The book reader program is integrated within each downloadable book. The books we provide are out of copyright in the USA; and in most cases Australia, Canada, the U.K., and many other countries.

You will need to create a Login Username and Password to download free ebooks.
Bookyards calls itself the "The Library To The World" and contains over 17,000 ebooks for download. Only available format currently is Adobe Acrobat, also known as PDF, which can be read by the free Adobe Reader software. This is a web portal where “books, education materials, information, and content will be freely to anyone who has an internet connection."

The Ask-about-Ireland website focuses on the digitisation and provision of new means of access to cultural heritage material in museums, libraries and archives and includes key national institutions such as the National Museum. It makes national treasures available on-line from Malin Head to Mizen Head.The website has a large information for both primary and secondary school students and the public in general.
