Partner Schools & Organisations
Offaly Westmeath Music Education Partnership is 'making music happen' guided by the values of equality of access, quality of experience, partnerships, creativity and sustainability.
Music Generation Offaly Westmeath aims to make creating music part of young people's lives, to give them life enhancing skills through learning to sing and play instruments, to generate opportunities for children and young people to experience making music with others and to work to achieve this with talented, committed and reflective musicians.
Music Generation Offaly Westmeath continues to extend opportunity and access to performance music education for the children and young people of Offaly and Westmeath by further engagement with a wide range of schools and organisations.
Many of our partners are local schools who work with MGOW to deliver a variety of programmes and initiatives. This ensures that their pupils benefit from increased opportunity to access musical activity for the duration of their school life. To do this, MGOW tutors work with classes from junior and senior infants to 6th class, guiding pupils from, what is for many, their first experience of making music in the Kodaly Programme, extending this work into the Kodaly Combo and providing further progression routes into the various styles of tuition available in the Instrumental Outreach Programme. To supplement this activity and maintainprogression routes, MGOW is working with a number of other organisations as they partner to develop additional opportunities for musical engagement into community activity.
In addition to this, many of the region's secondary schools are looking into ways that they can partner MGOW to make a contribution to this rich network, and MGOW tutors are currently working with first years and TY pupils through the Instrument Outreach Programme (Whole Class Tuition) in a number of secondary schools and engaging with youngsters aged 13+ in our developing community projects.
