The Offaly Local Sports Partnership was formed in early 2003. Its a partnership of Local stakeholders interested in increasing participation in competitive sport and physical activity generally among Offaly people of all ages and backgrounds.
The Office of Community & Enterprise, Offaly County Council facilitated the establishment of the Partnership as part of the implementation of the Offaly Development Strategy 2002- 2012. Member agencies from the Statutory and Local Development sectors were asked to nominate a representative onto an interim committee that would explore and promote the establishment of a Local Sports Partnership in Offaly. Some member agencies such as the Midland Health Board and OAK Partnership have being involved in L.S.P.’s in neighbouring counties Laois and Kildare.

The Declaration by partners of Offaly Sports Partnership:
"We the members of the interim Offaly Sports Partnership are committed to the ongoing co-ordination and development of sport and recreation in Offaly through meaningful partnership, consultation, inclusion and resourcing of our agreed objectives as set out below."
- To increase levels of participation in competitive and non-competitive sporting and recreational activities in the county.
- To improve the health status of the county's population from their participation in the above mentioned activities.
- To lay the foundations for progression of Offaly's junior sports persons.
- To remove the barriers preventing people who experience poverty and exclusion in the county being afforded a full opportunity to participate in a chosen sporting or recreational activity.
- To support sport and recreation development in clubs/schools/groups through the provision of information and support.
Offaly Sports Groups Database
The Offaly Sports Groups Database is a resource developed by the Offaly Sports Partnership. The database has currently over 230 different sporting and recreational clubs/groups. If you are on our database you will receive invites to our information sessions organised by the partnership and will be circulated with information on an on-going basis.
