The Treks

Treks provide you with the opportunity to sample a section of each one of the Ways. They are of 4-5hr duration and travel from one trailhead to another. With unique landscapes and views each trek is special in its own way offering the walker a scenic view of Laois and Offaly. Each of the four ways has their own treks which can be broken into different trails. There are four treks which start at one trailhead and end at a different one.

The four treks include:

Trek 1: Glenbarrow to Clonaslee

Trek 2: Clonaslee to Cadamstown

Trek 3: Cadamstown to Kinnitty

Trek 4: Kilcormac to Cadamastown

 



Offaly Way
There are three treks in the Offaly Way and each one offers the walker a unique experience in discovering Offaly's countryside and heritage. It is divided here into 3 sections each representing a half days walking. The trail starts in Cadamstown and ends in Lemanaghan. The three treks include:

  1. Cadamstown to Kilcormac
  2. Kilcormac to Leabeg
  3. Leabeg to Lemanaghan

Grand Canal Way
The Grand Canal Way offers walkers a unique experience that includes walking along the pisturesque canals in Offaly. It is divided here into 9 sections each representing a half days walking. The trail starts at the Lucan Road Bridge and ends at Shannon Harbour

  1. Lucan Bridge to Sallins
  2. Sallins to Robertsown
  3. Robertsown to Ticknevin
  4. Ticknevin to Edenderry
  5. Edenderry to Daingean
  6. Daingean to Tullamore
  7. Tullamore to Pollagh
  8. Pollagh to Armstrong Bridge
  9. Armstong bridge to Shannon Habour



Slí Mor (Pilgrams Path)
The Slí Mor offers walkers a unique experience to view some of beautiful landscapes and countryside. Walkers will be given a chance to view some unique heritage, the Esker Riada and elevated views of bog landscapes which are rich in wild flowers and insect life.
