Offaly County Council has commenced a Countywide Watermain Rehabilitation Project. This project is part of the Water Conservation Scheme for the county and is funded under the National Water Services Investment Programme, 2010-2012. The objective of the Project is to reduce water leakage in the water distribution system, and accordingly reduce Unaccounted For Water (UFW).
This work involves the replacement of existing deficient watermains and associated backyard services throughout the county. As far as is practicable, such watermains in private property will be relocated to public areas.
The first Rehabilitation contract commenced last summer to work on Moorpark Street, High Street and Oxmantown Mall in Birr.
A member of Offaly Co. Council Water Services Engineering Staff will call to each householder with an existing backyard service to discuss the preferred option for locating the new service before works commence. Staff will be available at all times during the project to address issues as they arise.
