Persons who are homeless, or are in danger of becoming homeless, should visit the nearest Council or Town Council office, in order for an assessment to be made of the most appropriate means of assistance in their case.
The Council work closely with the Midland Simon Communities and provide a settlement service through Settlement Officers who specifically work with clients referred from the local authorities who are experiencing homelessness issues and who find it difficult to source accommodation themselves.
A Homeless Strategy prepared by Offaly Homeless Forum was adopted by Offaly County Council in September 2008. This strategy sets out the response of Offaly Local Authorities to tackling the problem of homelessness within the county.
