Tullamore Decarbonising Zone

Offaly County Council is launching the Tullamore Decarbonising Zone with a networking event on the 14th of July in Tullamore.

The purpose of the event is to bring all of the stakeholders in Tullamore together to explore the challenges and opportunities in meeting our climate and energy targets, while fostering collaboration between key stakeholders across a range of sectors, including government bodies, business, industry, academia and communities. Following this, then to assist and enable communities and stakeholders to undertake a range of collaborative climate change mitigation, adaptation and biodiversity measures in Tullamore. Once successful these projects and measures can then be brought other areas of Offaly.

What is Tullamore Decarbonising Zone?
Tullamore, as Offaly’s designated Decarbonising Zone (DZ), will show real leadership in delivering climate, biodiversity and sustainability actions through innovation, technology, creativity, and empowering community engagement, thus demonstrating local place-based successes that can be scaled up and replicated across the county and region.

Within the DZ area, it is the purpose of local authorities to work collaboratively with stakeholders and communities, and help to promote exploration, co-creativity, innovation and new learnings in delivering climate action, as well as the economic and social benefits of decarbonising, such as just transition and health.
