The Built Heritage Investment Scheme (BHIS) seeks to encourage the leveraging of private capital to invest in a number of small-scale, labour-intensive projects to repair and conserve Protected and Vernacular Structures and Historic Shopfronts, including those within Architectural Conservation Areas.
- Grants for protected structures range from €2,500 up to €50,000 may be awarded, with applicants required to provide a minimum of 20% of total costs.
- Vernacular Structures grants from €2,500 and up to €30,000 may be awarded for conservation repairs to non-protected vernacular buildings. Vernacular structures that are included on the list of protected structures, may be awarded grants up to €50,000.
The Historic Thatched Buildings Stream (HTBS) seeks to protect the built heritage and value of historic thatched roofs while supporting the employment of skilled craftworkers and tradespeople specializing in traditional thatching techniques.
- The HTBS offers grants up to €20,000. Applicants are required to provide a minimum of 20% of total costs.
- Owner or occupiers of a historic thatched structure, including domestic and commercial properties are eligible to apply for the grant.
