Accessibility Statement

Offaly.ie is still a work in progress – we have designed the entire site to use stylesheets which are screen reader friendly. We have adopted a less cluttered, more consistent navigation methodology throughout the site. The use of colour, breadcrumbs and links back to main sections allows for easier navigation. Staff developing the site have attended courses on web design for accessibility and have liaised with disability bodies in the design.   We aim to make this website accessible to everybody, and we are working towards making this website conform to the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 (W3C website) to “AA” standard.

Please note that while we are taking care to ensure the site is as accessible to all as possible we are aware that there are partner sites and Adobe documents on the site that do not currently comply, we are working our way through these.  We are more than happy to provide an accessible format for any document that is required and not currently available on the site –

please contact us at accessibility@offaly.ie.

Though this site is monitored on a regular basis and accessibility is an important part of every new development it is not possible to predict every possible difficulty a user might have in accessing information on the site.

Therefore please let us know if you encounter any problems by please contact us at accessibility@offaly.ie

Accessibility Officer

Offaly County Council endeavours to provide clean, accessible public offices that ensure privacy, comply with occupational and safety standards and facilitate access for people with disabilities and special needs.

Under the Disability Act 2005, all public bodies, subject to certain considerations provided for in the Act, are required to ensure that access to services is integrated and to provide assistance to people accessing services.  Services and goods supplied to all public bodies are required to be accessible and communications and information provided by public bodies must be accessible.

Offaly County Council strives to implement the provisions of ‘A Code of Practice’ on Accessible Public Services launched by the Government in 2006.
