The Cathaoirleach of Offaly County Council, Cllr. John Carroll, and members of the Corporate Policy Group, Cllrs. Dooley, Leahy, Owens and Quinn met with MEPs from the South Constituency and Laois Offaly Oireachtas members last Monday 15th February to call for fairness in the approach to be taken to the EU Just Transition programme and fund. The virtual meeting was attended by Minister Pippa Hackett, Deputies Barry Cowen, Carol Nolan, Charlie Flanagan and Brian Stanley and MEPs Billy Kelleher, Grace O’ Sullivan and Deirdre Clune.

Met Éireann has issued a yellow snow / ice warning for a number of Counties including Offaly. A band of sleet and snow spreading north-eastwards during Thursday giving snow accumulations of up to 5cm in some areas (higher over the mountains), but transitioning to rain in the west and south on Thursday night. The expected onset is on Thursday 11/2/2021 at 8am and expires Friday 12/2/2021 at 8am.

Tullamore: 4th out of 37 towns / cities surveyed- Cleaner than European Norms – IBAL Ant...

Another superb result for Tullamore, placing it among only 4 towns in the country to achieve ‘Cleaner than European Norms’ status. Six out of the ten sites surveyed received the top litter grade and there were no seriously littered sites. Top-ranking sites included Market Square, the waterside environment at Bury Quay and Lloyd Town Park – the latter was exceptionally well presented and maintained, a wonderful town park environment.
