Proposed Part 8 Development - Tullamore River Project

OFFALY COUNTY COUNCIL & Local Community Development Committee

In accordance with the requirements of the:

Planning & Development Act 2000, as amended (Section 179)

Part 8 of the Planning & Development Regulations 2001 (as amended)

Pursuant to the requirements of Part 8 of the Local Government (Planning & Development) Regulations 2001(as amended) notice is hereby given that Offaly County Council proposes the following works:

  • New habitat wetland area between railway line and R443
  • Riparian zone at Marian Place adjacent to grounds of Scoil Bhride
  • Wetland creation at the old mill pond at Main Street and Kilcruttin, Tullamore
  • Tree trimming and walkway extension at Main Street and Bridge Centre Car Park, Tullamore
  • River enhancement measures to the rear of the Tullamore library
  • All associated works ancillary to the above developments

 The proposed works shall be located at:

• Srah & Kilcruttin, Tullamore

• Marian Place, Tullamore

• Main Street & Kilcruttin, Tullamore

• Main Street & Bridge Centre Car Park, Tullamore

• Rear of Tullamore Library, Tullamore

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy during normal public opening hours at the Environment and Water Services Section, Council Headquarters, Áras an Chontae, Charleville Road, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, for a period of four weeks from Tuesday 25th February to 24th March, 2020 inclusive of both dates.

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and development of the areas in which the development would be situated may be made in writing to Director of Services, Environment and Water Services Section, Offaly County Council, Áras an Chontae, Charleville Road, Tullamore has now been extended until not later than 4th June, 2020.

Offaly County Council has concluded on the basis of a screening determination that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and therefore an Environmental Impact Assessment is not required. Any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of this notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.
