Offaly County Council wish Shane Lowry and Team Europe well
All eyes are on Wisconsin this weekend as the European Team take on the USA in the much awaited 43rd Ryder Cup. Offaly’s very own Shane Lowry tees off on Friday having qualified to play as the Captain’s pick in this years Cup.
Representatives from Offaly County Council paid a visit to Esker Hills this week to show their support for the Offaly man and the club which he calls home.
The Cathaoirleach of Offaly County Council Declan Harvey and Tullamore MD Cathaoirleach Cllr. Tony McCormack both wished Shane the very best in this weekends event.
They expressed the joy that Shane’s success has brought the county and hoped that his success will continue to encourage others to partake in golf.
Chief Executive Anna Marie Delaney also congratulated Shane on reaching the Ryder Cup Team and expressed how the whole county is behind him. She also stated that golf is a growing sport countrywide and Offaly Tourism continues to promote our five clubs which are of exceptional standard.
Esker Hills Golf Club is holding open competitions this weekend also to coincide with the Ryder Cup. Singles Stableford are on WED 22nd, FRI 24th & SUN 26th September.
