Offaly County Council is seeking expressions of interest on potential projects which may be considered for funding under this scheme which is administered by the Department of Rural and Community Development.
The 2022 Scheme will place particular emphasis on projects supporting bringing vacant and derelict buildings and sites back into use as multi-purpose spaces. The maximum grant available in 2022 will remain at the increased level of €500,000 to permit projects of additional scale to be funded, with grant funding ranging from €20,000 to €250,000 for small to medium capital projects which enhance the environment of town or village centres and encourage people to return to town and village centres to work, shop and socialise.
The measures that will be supported in 2022 are:
*Bringing vacant and derelict buildings/sites back into use for enterprise, arts, tourism etc.
*Turning vacant properties into remote working hubs and community spaces
*Regeneration projects that will revitalise towns and villages and drive economic activity and footfall and projects that support the night time economy
*New build community centres where need cannot be met with existing premises
*Projects to develop parks, plazas, outdoor dining spaces, recreational space/amenities to include outdoor sports/sports facilities e.g. skate parks, tennis courts, basketball courts etc.
A new Marketing Scheme Measure is being introduced, on a trial basis, to fund marketing campaigns, targeted at attracting remote workers and mobile talent to individual counties, in line with the commitments under ‘Our Rural Future’. The maximum grant available is €50,000.
The Project Development Measure is being included again this year, which will fund development costs (detailed design, preparation for planning and/or procurement etc.) of up to €50,000 for one strategic large scale project that may be subsequently progressed with funding from the TVRS.
