The Healthy Offaly Plan is an evidence based plan which supports the implementation of the national Healthy Ireland strategy at a local level. The Healthy Offaly Plan seeks to build upon the Healthy Ireland strategic vision: “A healthy Ireland where everyone can enjoy physical and mental health and well-being to their full potential.”
The goal of the Healthy Offaly Plan is to improve the health and wellbeing of all in County Offaly by:
- Raising awareness & supporting the Healthy Ireland programme through funding of community-based activities
- Facilitating cross-sectoral & partnership networks that promote health and wellbeing
- Adding value to existing health promotion initiatives through Healthy Ireland resources
- Supporting health & wellbeing of the most disadvantaged groups and areas, and those experiencing significant health inequalities
Key priorities of the Healthy Offaly Plan include providing supports to promote physical activity and mental health, in addition to a number of actions to tackle alcohol, tobacco and substance misuse, sexual health issues and healthy weight.
