Waste Management Act 1996 – Section 35(1)

Notice is hereby given that Offaly County Council pursuant to Section 35(1) of the Waste Management Act 1996 (as amended) and Section 199(1) of the Local Government Act 2001 (as amended) and in accordance with Part 19 of the Local Government Act 2001 (as amended), has at the meeting of Offaly County Council on the 15th of October 2018, adopted Bye-Laws to regulate and control the Storage, Presentation and Segregation of Household and Commercial Waste within its functional area. Provision has been made in the Bye-Laws for the imposition of a fixed payment of €75 in respect of a contravention of a Bye-Law as an alternative to a prosecution, as provided for in Section 206 of the Local Government Act 2001.

The Bye-Laws, which come into effect on the 1st  of December 2018, are available for inspection at Offaly  County Council Offices, Aras an Chontae, Charleville Rd, Tullamore, Co.Offaly.

They are also available for inspection at the Birr and Edenderry Municipal District Offices and the Council Public Libraries (during normal opening hours) or may be viewed online at www.offaly.ie.  A copy of the Bye-Laws may be obtained on request from the Environment Section, Offaly County Council,  Aras an Chontae, Charleville Rd, Tullamore, Co.Offaly or by e-mail to environment@offaly.ie
