WASTE MANAGEMENT ACT 1996, as amended – SECTION 35 (1)

(1)    Draft Bye-Laws for the Segregation, Storage and Presentation of Household and Commercial Waste 2018

Notice is hereby given that Offaly County Council proposes to make new Bye-Laws to regulate and control the Segregation, Storage and Presentation of Household and Commercial Waste within its functional area. It is proposed to make provision in the Bye-Laws for the imposition of a fixed payment of €75 in respect of a contravention of a Bye-Law as an alternative to a prosecution, as provided for in Section 206 of the Local Government Act 2001.

These bye-laws repeal the Offaly County Council Waste Managment (Storage, Presentation, Segregation & Collection of Household Waste) Bye-Laws dated 29thApril, 2009

The Draft Bye-Laws are available for inspection at:

Environment Section,

Aras an Chontae,

Charleville Rd,

Tullamore,

Co.Offaly

From the 4th July 2018 until the 17th August 2018, between 9.30am and 4pm Monday to Friday. A copy of the draft Bye-Laws may also be obtained free of charge from this location.

They are also available for inspection at all Council Public Libraries (during normal opening hours) and Tullamore, Birr and Edenderry Council Area Offices (during normal office hours) or may be viewed online at www.offaly.ie .

Offaly County Council will consider any submissions made in relation to the Draft Bye-Laws. Such submissions can be made in writing before 5 pm on 24th August 2018 to:, Environment Section, Offaly County Council, Aras an Chontae, Charleville Rd, Tullamore, Co.Offaly or by e-mail to environment@offaly.ie . All submissions must include the name and address of the person/organisation making the submission, and will be included in a final report which will be available for public viewing.
