Creative Ireland Programme in Offaly
We are currently inviting community groups to apply for funding to work with an artist to explore aspects of Offaly’s heritage. Please see the information PDF attached and the application form as an attached word document. If you would like to discuss a potential project do get in touch. This funding programme has led to a range of wonderful, engaging projects in previous years and we look forward to working with groups and artists this year.
Offaly County Council, with financial support from Creative Ireland, seeks to award grants to communities and artists working together to explore and present aspects of Offaly’s heritage through varying art forms. These grants will range from incubator grants to project delivery grants. Projects may be phased over a number of years exploring concepts and developing relationships between the artist and community in year one and the building on this in future years.
Heritage includes the following - monuments, archaeological objects, heritage objects including archives, architectural heritage, flora, fauna, wildlife habitats, landscapes, geology, heritage gardens and parks, inland waterways, folklore and local history.
Art can include any creative or interpretative expression (whether traditional or contemporary) in whatever art form, including; visual arts, theatre, literature, music, dance, opera, film, circus and architecture, and includes any medium within those art forms.

Annual Offaly Heritage Seminar - Friday 18 and Saturday 19 November 2022
The annual Offaly Heritage Seminar was held in Birr on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 November 2022. This annual seminar is an opportunity for those interested in heritage to meet and to hear about projects happening in the county. All are welcome and it is a free. Email heritage@offalycoco.ie if you would like to come along in 2023. There were field trips in the morning to Kilcomin church, the Birr Barracks Mural in Crinkill and Emmel Castle; a walking tour of Birr town seeing new developments and an afternoon seminar in Birr Theatre and Arts Centre. Offaly Naturalists' Field Club Programme
Offaly has an active field club which offers a range of events throughout the year. With Covid 19 restrictions all programming has ceased from March 2020. A full programme of events is being planned for 2023.
