How to Join?

You can join online or in your local branch.

What do you need?

Public library membership is free of charge for everyone in Ireland.

Please bring a valid photographic ID and a current proof of address when joining or completing your online registration in your local branch. Acceptable forms of photographic ID include a passport; driver's license; student card; young person's Garda age card ID; a staff ID card issued by an employer. Acceptable forms of recent (within last six months) proof of current address include a recent bill for gas; electricity; telephone, or mobile phone; a bank statement.

You can join at any age, but those aged under 18 need permission from a parent/guardian to join the library and to act as guarantor for them. The parent/guardian will need a photo ID and proof of address and should also register for a library account. Parents/guardians are responsible for their children in the library, and for their children’s selections and use of library materials and services, including access to the Internet and online resources.

If you are under the age of 18, you must review the terms and conditions with your parent or guardian before agreeing to make sure that you and your parent/guardian understand your and their legal obligations. Please note that the normal age restrictions for accessing content for eBooks and eAudiobooks are dependent on accurate information being provided.

Before joining, please read the Data Protection Privacy Statement for Offaly Libraries.
