Positive Ageing Week (PAW) will be taking place from 26th September – 1st October this year at Offaly Libraries, kindly co-funded by Age Friendly Offaly and Offaly Adapts. Positive Ageing Week 2022 celebrates ageing and the contribution and agency of older people. The theme of PAW 2022 is Challenging Ageism - Reframing How We Think, Feel and Act towards ageing and older persons.
This is a socially inclusive event so everyone can take part. At Offaly Libraries, we will be celebrating this occasion with the following events:
- The Gramophone Society joins us for some beautiful music to celebrate our older patrons for their continued support and contribution to our libraries (Tullamore Branch).
- We will be hosting coffee mornings in varies branches around the county in Birr, Ferbane and Kilcormac.
- LOETB Staying Connected Classes will be starting the week of Positive Ageing Week in Tullamore Library.
- A Morning of Reminiscing with Killeigh Community Centre Development Association will be taking place in Tullamore Library on Thursday, 29th September.
- Edenderry Library will host an Arts and Crafts class for PAW with Pauline McNelis.
- We will be gifting our patrons Butterfly and Bee Friendly bulbs along with very good quality sustainable Chancery bags
- All branches will have a display featuring Age Friendly information for the public to peruse.
