Summer Stars National Reading Adventure 2022
Offaly Libraries has launched its annual Summer Stars Reading Adventure. Students from 2nd Class, Scoil Mhuire, joined in Tullamore Library to officially kick off the programme and a great morning was had by all.
Summer Stars is the public library national summer reading programme and runs from June 13 until the end of August. Freely available to all children, this exciting reading-based initiative encourages children to enjoy the fun and pleasure of reading and writing over the summer.
Children throughout the county are invited to register for this programme at their local library. All participants will be given a Summer Stars Reading card to track their progress and a reward stamp will be added to their card at the library after each book read. Children will be encouraged to continue reading throughout the programme with rewards and incentives provided along the way. Summer Stars is non-competitive and every child who reads even one book/ebook will receive a certificate of achievement at the end of the adventure!
As part of this exciting programme, children will be encouraged to read books of all shapes and forms with little rewards along the way including book marks, pencils, pencil cases and bags. In addition, we will have many events and activities happening both online and in our library branches over the coming months in support of the Summer Stars adventure.
