Planning Licences
Temporary Signage
A licence to erect/construct/place and maintain a sign(s), appliance(s) or structure(s) on/under/over/along a public road is required under Section 254 of The Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended.
A completed Application Form is to be submitted to the Planning Department along with the relevant documents which are:
- A Site Location Map - 1:2500 scale
- Site Layout Map showing the locations of the proposed sign(s)/ appliances(s)/ structure(s) and pole for each sign/appliance
- Drawing to scale of proposed sign(s)/appliances(s)/ structures(s).
- Colour scheme of proposed sign(s)/ appliances(s)/ structures(s).
- In relation to advertising signs (Finger-Post), these signs shall be in accordance with Bord Fáilte specification.

Tables and Chairs Licence
A licence to erect/construct/place and maintain Tables and Chairs on Public Footpath is required under Section 254 of The Planning and Development Act 2000.
A completed form is to be submitted to the Planning Department along with the following documents:
- A Site Location Map - 1:2500 scale
- Site Layout Map showing the locations of the proposed sign(s)/ appliances(s)/ structure(s) and pole for each sign/appliance
- Drawing to scale of proposed sign(s)/appliances(s)/ structures(s).
- Colour scheme of proposed sign(s)/ appliances(s)/ structures(s).
- In relation to advertising signs (Finger-Post), these signs shall be in accordance with Bord Fáilte specification.

Scaffolding/Hoarding Licences
A licence to erect/construct/place Scaffolding and/or Hoarding is required under Section 254 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000.
Application form is to be submitted to the Planning Department along with the following relevant documents:
- A Site Location Map - 1:2500 scale
- Site Layout Map showing the locations of the proposed sign(s)/ appliances(s)/ structure(s) and pole for each sign/appliance
- Drawing to scale of proposed sign(s)/appliances(s)/ structures(s).
- Colour scheme of proposed sign(s)/ appliances(s)/ structures(s).
- In relation to advertising signs (Finger-Post), these signs shall be in accordance with Bord Fáilte specification.
- Insurance Certificate with Public Liability cover of €6.4 million for any one claim and indemnifying Offaly County Council
