Please check the Notice of Election for Offaly County Council which outlines the following legislative timeframes:
- The times for receiving nominations
- The times and place at which nomination papers may be obtained
- The times and place at which the Returning Officer will attend to receive nominations
- The amount of the deposit
- The day and the period fixed for the holding of the poll if the election is contested
Local elections are managed by Offaly County Council and candidates will contest for 19 seats across 3 Local Electoral Areas – Birr, Edenderry and Tullamore.
The Candidate Nominations period will be between 11th May and 12 noon on 18th May 2024. Candidates should familiarise themselves with the paperwork in advance of the nominations period. Please contact the Returning Officer, Offaly County Council to arrange an appointment, to attend with nomination papers.
The Local Elections, if contested, will take place on Friday 07th June 2024 by order of the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
The polling period will take place between 7.00 a.m. and 10.00 p.m.
