Part 8 – Edenderry Three No. Pedestrian Crossings

Planning and Development Act 2000 (As Amended) (Section 179) & Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (As Amended), Part 8 Planning

Pursuant to the requirements of Part 8 of the Local Government (Planning & Development) Regulations 2001 (as amended) notice is hereby given that Offaly County Council proposes the following works:

EDENDERRY THREE No. PEDESTRIAN CROSSING’S

In summary, the development will comprise the following:

  • Removal of paths/Construction of footpaths.
  • Upgrade Pedestrian Crossing on R441 (Monasteroris) & R402 (St Mary’s Road).
  • Installation of New Pedestrian Crossing on R402 (St Mary’s Road)
  • Installation of associated Drainage Works.
  • Installation of associated Road Markings.
  • Including all associated Accommodation Works.

Offaly County Council has prepared an EIA Screening Report in accordance with the requirements of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended). On the basis of this Screening Report, Offaly County Council has determined that there is no likelihood of significant effects on the environment. Accordingly, it has been determined that EIA is not required in respect of this proposed development. Any person may within 4 weeks from the date of this notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether this proposed development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.

The proposed development has been the subject of an Appropriate Assessment screening in accordance with the EU Habitats Directive and the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended. The Appropriate Assessment screening concluded that the proposed development would not be likely to give rise to significant or indeterminate impacts on any European site.

Plans and particulars of the proposed Edenderry Three No. Pedestrian Crossing’s Scheme are available for inspection from the 19th of June 2025 or during public opening hours at the offices of Offaly County Council, Áras an Chontae, Charleville Road, Tullamore, County Offaly (R35 F893) and the offices of Edenderry Municipal District, Town Hall, O’Connell Square, Edenderry, County Offaly (R45 K766), for a period of four weeks ending 17th of July, 2025.
