Positive Ageing Week (PAW) will be taking place from 30th September to 6th October this year at Offaly Libraries, kindly co-funded by Age Friendly Offaly.
Positive Ageing Week 2024 celebrates ageing and the contribution and agency of older people. This year the theme is Challenging Ageism – Reframing How We Think, Feel and Act towards ageing and older persons. This is a socially inclusive event so everyone can take part.
At Offaly Libraries, we will be celebrating this occasion with the following events throughout October.

Offaly County Council in collaboration with Offaly Local Development Company, Creative Ireland and Offaly Libraries will be launching an Age-Friendly digital skills programme using Acorn Tablets. The aim of this programme is to empower older adults to confidently navigate the digital world by offering tailored training sessions on how to use tablets for online communication, everyday tasks, and browsing. This training will be run directly out of Banagher Library and will be facilitated by West Offaly Training. Participants will learn essential skills like sending emails, video calling, browsing the internet, and accessing online services such as banking, shopping, and entertainment platforms.
